Project overview

SecureCam brings camera event discovery and media workflows together in a cloud-connected platform. The work includes the application experience, provider integration, permissions, media processing, and the practical responsibilities of operating a deployed system.

Problem or objective

Security media is useful when it can be discovered, processed, and accessed by the appropriate people. The objective was to connect those responsibilities while keeping provider access and user permissions clearly controlled.

Solution approach

I brought the event, media, and access workflows into a web application with a separate service layer. The implementation accounts for provider authorization, encrypted credentials, live updates, and the processing needed to make recorded media usable.

Architecture & technical elements

A React and TypeScript interface works with a Fastify service and SQLite persistence. Dropbox OAuth supports provider authorization. FFmpeg handles media processing and thumbnail generation, while server-sent events carry live application updates.

What the work demonstrates

Integrating multiple technical responsibilities into an operational system, including access control, asynchronous media work, deployment, and recovery. The related engineering note examines the judgment required when a production deployment goes wrong.
